my previous labnotebook post explains salinity ramp objective post here

expt overview

• objective: ramp to ~55 in 24hr, begin ramp down to ambient when tissue thinning occurs
• treatments: 3 ambient containers (2 frag chambers per container); 3 salinity containers (2 frag chambers per container)
• methods: 96mL 75psu seawater added 1x/hr each 2L container (starting vol 1100mL) for 7 hours. Vol of hypersaline water added was too large so salinity container was held at ~53psu until 10am the next morning. Bailout was observed 1d into the expt so the ramp down (dosing in ambient sw instead of hypersaline sw) was started immediately.

Future work

• change dos to add 48 ml/hr instead of 96 ml/hr so the ramp occurs over a (closer to) 24hr time period rather than a 12 hr time period
• edit for loop in R to include different salinity ramp metrics for each trial (length of ramp, number of doses, psu change/hr, psu change/dos)
